Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron has seen The Hills and she doesn't understand why it's so popular.
"I realized that this f---ing show is huge," Theron told MTV News Monday while promoting Battle in Seattle. "Now I'm going to ask you a question: Why?
"Why is it so big?" she asked. "It's about nothing! This is a free country. Freedom of speech! You can tell me right now to my face that Reindeer Games was a piece of sh--. That's totally fine.
"But The Hills is about nothing," she continued. "I think the girls are beautiful and when they cry their mascara runs and that's real, but I don't get it! [Pause.] I am a nana. I'll just take it. I am a nana. Maybe I need to watch the shows some more."
Theron, 33, said she watched a couple of episodes in different languages because she was on a world tour.
In March, Theron was bewildered when asked by MTV about The Hills.
"I do not know what The Hills are," she responded at the time. "Oh, now you're going to make me look like the old fart. God, you're a mother----er! Unbelievable! You're supposed to make me look like the cool movie star! Come on! Get with it! What is The Hills?"

I think that's probably how a lot of "legitimate" stars feel - they just see Lauren as another silly Paris Hilton. Who is yes, as famous as they are, but not really in a good way.

ReplyDeleteOh my god, she's not old - she's 33! Compare the pictures - Lauren looks as old if not older than she does (which does not bode well for Lauren at 22).
ReplyDeleteAnyway I seriously doubt she's jealous - she's an oscar winner and one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood. She rubs elbows with real stars rather than Brody Jenner and Frankie Delgado.
I get what she's saying - she could maybe be nicer, but its a dumb show. I personally watch it to make fun of it. I think the people who take it so seriously are missing a few brain cells.

1) there's no way in hell Charlize is jealous. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If anything, what I could see bothering her is that these girls, that are somewhat in the same industry as her, are actually getting some recognition despite the fact that they are talentless and retarded. I'd also be a bit peeved about the principle of it all.
2) Charlize is right, the show is stupid (yeah she could have fluffed up the language a bit, but it is funnier the way she put it). It's about a bunch of spoiled brats with high school mentalities that never have anything substantial to say. But it's such a mystery because at the same time it is highly entertaining to watch (it's like watching a trainwreck).
3) totally agreed. It's fun to watch but the people who take it seriously are missing a few brain cells.

Either she admits it has a place in society or she continues to bash it but keep in mind the same Oscar she has and considers prestigious is also in the hands of a former reality show contestant.
