Check out one student's account of Jessica's visit to her school:
Jessica Smith from Laguna Beach came to my school tonight. It was basically an entire hour or so of question and answer. The main question, which has been of debate for the past two seasons of Laguna was if it was real or not. She said that everything is real except for some of the events that happened. The producers would tell them where to go and what specific thing to bring up during conversation, but other than that all of the stuff that happened was real. She said the first season was the most real, then the second season was played up a little bit, but the third season is by far all acting.. two girls moved from different states to be on the show? it doesnt get anymore fake than that.

MTV went to their high school and hundred of students auditioned to be on the cast of Laguna Beach. When the producers found out Kristen and LC were hooking up with Stephen, it was a good start for the show. So all of those people were chosen. For season two, obviously Kristen was still around, so a bunch of her friends "just happened to be good looking" and were casted.

She said no one talks to LC anymore because she only talks to Jason, who just drinks and does drugs all the time. She doesn't talk to Kristen that much anymore because, well.. she hinted that Kristen was a slut.

Jessica went to Community College for a semester and dropped out because she wasn't doing well because of the distractions because of her reputation. She dated some guy, who in the end, was just dating her as a bet to see if he could get "the Laguna girl" to like him.

When asked how much of the show was taped while the cast was intoxicated, she replied "about 90 percent."

I was surprised at how much bad language she used, and she actually shocked me as to how humanly she really was. TV tends to make viewers forget these are real people. I was impressed.
