Few things in Hollywood last forever.And sources tell Usmagazine.com that after a ten-year relationship that included creating a reality show (FOX's The Princes of Malibu), partying like young Hollywood royalty and lobbying their way onto MTV's The Hills, reality stars Spencer Pratt and Brody Jenner have broken off their friendship.
Sources confirm that the rift began shortly after Pratt made inflammatory comments about Brody's ex Nicole Richie in a Details magazine story earlier this year, and the break was cemented about a month ago when Pratt was angered by Jenner rekindling a frienship with arch-enemy Lauren Conrad.
Much like he famously did to girlfriend Heidi Montag in last season’s The Hills, Pratt gave Jenner an ultimatum: to pick between him and Lauren Conrad. Jenner, sources confirm, chose Conrad and has been filming with Conrad over the last several weeks. "Brody's doing his own thing with his friends, including Lauren, and Spencer is doing his own thing with Heidi," a source tells Us.
Jenner, who Usmagazine.com first reported underwent surgery Monday morning to repair a broken finger he suffered last week while playing beach football with Conrad and pals, couldn’t be reached for comment. But when contacted by Us late Monday night, Pratt confirmed the split, saying: “I wish them both the best. They [Conrad and Jenner] are meant for each other.”

wake up and smell the coffee folks - this was a planted story. This is Spencer (and Brody's) PR dream - both guys are now on a hit show and how convenient for them - one is engaged to Heidi and now the other is all BFF with Lauren. blech.
Both guys are stupid and full of themselves... and neither should be getting any "air" time. I seriously don't know what is in the drinking water at the Hills, why can't Lauren and Heidi realize the moment the cameras go away the guys will be gone faster than you can say "NEXT"

I don't think this is a planted story. Brody has been off of Spencer and Heidi's top friends lists on myspace for a while now.
Are you kidding me? of course it's planted. They started the pretend rift so brody could get closer to lauren and they both could get air time on the hills, spencer and brody don't care about anyone or anything other than publicity and being famous
totally agree - this was all staged by the guys and how convenient for them - spencer "the bad guy" is with heidi the "bad girl"and brody "the good guy/charmer" is all chummy with lauren "the good girl" now i think i'm going to hurl
This is not surprising, but I smell something fishy. Both Spencer and Brody are tools and I wouldn't put it past them to plot this thing up. I agree, these two should seriously just disappear from The Hills.

This is such an insult to Hills fans. I love LC and the Hills but I dont think I can stomach a season watching tools like Brody and Spencer. This is a PR stunt that is orchastrated by Spencer since Brody is wayyyy too dumb. What about LC? She cannot see thru Brody? Wake up LC! This guy is not your friend, neither are spencer or Heidi. All these people use her for fame and she is OK with it. It is really sad to see this gorgeous girl with absolutely no BRAIN. I just hope MTV watches out for her a little and give Brody/Spencer/Heidi very little airtime.
Soon as the Hills season starts Brody is magically back in the picture. He's totally using Lauren.

If you think about it who ever created this PR stunt it's working. Many people may not like them but everyone is still talking about how they cant wait to see this season, because real or not everyone will be bumping heads.
I wouldnt call LC stupid, it's about ratings and so far The Hills have been bringing them in. Good vs. Bad makes for good tv entertainment.

^Not all publicity is good publicity. Even LC knows that herself. If she wants a good career where she has a successful fashion/purse lines and hosting a fashion related tv show... LC has to have respect of her fans. She was one of the most beloved member of the LB cast and the most loved members of the Hills, now all this famewhoring by people she associate with are bringing her reputation down.
LC hardly attends events anymore. She tries to stay out of the limelight which is a good thing. All the press they are on her in legitimate paparazzi photos when she is filming for the show and photoshoots that she has done. Yet, her name is constantly on these gossip blogs because of spencer/heidi and now brody.
She needs a clue fast because if people begins to think that she is like Heidi/spencer/brody... no one will want to buy her clothes or purses.

i really like Lauren but, if she seriously thinks Brody is her friend and that he and Spencer and on the outs, she's not the smart girl I thought she was. I am sick and tired of seeing Spencer and Heidi in fake PR stuff everywhere and I'm sick and tired of seeing Brody slime his way back into Lauren's spotlight too. I was so excited for the Hills to start and now all I'm feeling is diappointed : (
Love Lauren. She was smart to distance herself from Heidi and Spencer. If her designs are good her clothes will sell.

All I'm saying is, it's a "reality" tv series. For the plot lines the producers probably want Brody in the picture to have all this havoc for ratings. Do I know this for sure.....nope but I also dont know how much leeway Lauren has when it comes to the show. I mean they might ask her if she's okay to have Jason, Brody etc. on the set but they're creating a story and they like bringing back the people that cause the drama.

i heard from a friend that this is all made-up. She sees Spencer and Brody together all the time at their apartment complex - just as i figured - once a liar always a liar!! i hate these 2 morons!!
I really don't care about these two. Besides it's no secret how they whore themselves around Hollywood to get some media attention. No one takes them seriously. I don't even think LC does either. It's just unfortunate that she shares mutual friends with Brody. So it's probably inevitable not to be civil with him.
Yeah, some people are really taking this way too seriously. I highly doubt this is going to affect LC's reputation. Why would it, when we all know she's nothing like these two scums of the earth? She's going to be successful based on her own accord, not because of other people. And seeing as how she's very well-received by the public, I don't think she has anything to worry about.
PR stunt or not, we cant really help the fact that their gonna have airtime on the show. i mean if it was staged, they are both tools who need to find something more convenient to do with their time. but hey, its hollywood i guess how thats people turn, and thats what we decided to watch-"how life changes in hollywood"

I think he has the hots for Lauren because he wanted to date her but she insisted on being "just friends." The whole Jenn/Brody incident was after Lauren turned Brody down. He's still hanging around her waiting for the green light.
As far as Lauren's reputation.
She's gotten rid of Spencer who was clearly the worst offender.
People are not going to stop watching The Hills just because Lauren is spending time with Brody IMO. Some will stop watching if Spencer gets too much air time.
He's so unlikeable it's unwatchable, but still there will be NEW viewers who will watch and yes, believe it or not, some people enjoy watching Spencer just to rip on him which he very much deserves.

i will say it again, it would not be the same without the original cast. hedi was there from the beginning and she still needs to be there now. if she breaks up with spencer that's her own deal. no need to bitch about it.
