Monday, September 24, 2007 || Lauren Conrad debuts signature clothing line in Virtual Hills!
Kicking off today with the star of MTV’s hit show, “The Hills,” Lauren Conrad is making a special appearance in-world on MTV’s Virtual Worlds at 8pm EST. Fans of the show can clothe their Virtual Worlds avatars in the Lauren Conrad Collection. Additionally, fans can purchase the very same dresses and outfits, for their own real-world wear, simply by clicking on the virtual items they like, which will take them to the collection’s online store. The Sophia and Jillian dresses (see attached) are only a sample of the many items available.
Known for her casual-luxe California style, which incorporates her signature flirty dresses and chic separates, Lauren Conrad is inspiring legions of young women to emulate her style. You can check out the Fall Preview line of the Lauren Conrad Collection at www.shoplaurenconrad.com. The clothes are really nice. But they are not original at all. She's merely putting her name on existing styles she likes and attaching a giant price tag to them. It's absolutely ridiculous. The site just looks like an overprice Forever 21.
Aww...poor LC. Virtually everything I've read has said the same thing - that it's way overpriced and not too original.
I just feel sorry for her because its her first clothing line and I don't think she had a whole lot of control with pricing. I have to agree with everyone else, but I just feel bad it didn't work out better because I'm sure she put a lot of work into it.
Despite the critics opinion the bottom line is dollars. whether it is selling or not? It seems that she is selling because everything is on back order. I ordered two things last week and they will not get ship until october 30. It is too soon to tell whether it will be a successful line or not. The projected sales is pretty low at 2 million.
