Hayden Panettiere is back on the market.Us Weekly has learned the Heroes hottie, 18, and her boyfriend of one year, Laguna Beach alum Stephen Colletti, 21, have gone their separate ways.
But the actress (who spent the end of August promoting Heroes in Europe with costars Milo Ventimiglia and Adrian Pasdar) seems to have moved on. When Us asked, "Where's Stephen?" at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 9, she furrowed her brow and replied, "I don't know. In California?"
Maybe it's because she had time to adjust to the relationship being over. As a source tells Us, "Their breakup has been a long time coming." But that doesn't mean the former sweethearts are feuding. Panettiere tells Us, "We are still very close friends and talk to each other frequently. We appreciate and support each other's careers."
(Colletti's rep could not be reached for comment.)

Honestly, I think Hayden is out of his league.
Stephen is a kid, always was. I liked him better than Jason but he was every bit the player Jason was. Hayden's also 18 and that's a great time to be single and just enjoy everything she's accomplished this year.

I suspected they wouldn't last. Hayden was the best thing going for his career because it generated buzz and interest about him, but at the same time it also invited a lot of scorn and ridicule from the media because people couldn't understand why a rising star like Hayden would date a reality tv has-been. So I think there were a lot of factors working against their relationship. Not to mention, Hayden enjoys the media attention more than Stephen. It seemed that Stephen was a little resentful of the public scrutiny of his relationship with Kristin so retreated from the public eye a little.
I imagine we will be hearing/seeing much more of Hayden's romantic dalliances with men in the coming future. I hope she doesn't fly off the rails and become another lohan.

I think stephen needs a girl his own age, I'm surprised it lasted that long, He is so HOT and she is barely cute.
Does anyone really care about stephen? He treated LC just as bad as Jason did if not worse. He was supposed to be LCs friend and he played her against kristin. Pretty bad in my mind and he doesn't deserve a nice girl. He should get back with Kristin they deserve each other.

Even though they're aren't at Tom Cruise star status, it's hard for them to have a relationship. Travelling, rumors, paparazzi, etc. They could have just grown apart. They're young. I do think that her rising fame is going to her head. She brags about how smart she is and she thinks she's the shiznit. She needs to get over herself.

Aw...I thought they were cute, but I didn't think it would last long. She is out of his league - maybe not lookswise, but as far as being a much bigger star.
She does seem like she could be another Lindsay Lohan. Wasn't she partying a lot starting when she was like 14 or 15? Although I did see a clip where she got pissed when some guy called her Lindsay on the street.

I don't think 2:52was saying they should date or get back together so I think 12:39 was a bit out of line. I think Stephen was a scumbag and a player and the last thing I want to see is LC dating him again. He's a second banana chracter in LB and a second banana trailing behind Hayden.

You knew they wouldnt last with Hayden becoming such a huge star. I cant blame her for dumping him-if I were 18 and that popular Id want to be free to date in Hollywood. You know the producers of the Hills are praying he contacts Lauren to talk even if if they dont reunite it would be huge ratings.

He may be good looking-but she is utterly gorgeous-she was too good for him-not to mention shes a much bigger star with a better career in front of her. Even though he got dumped I wouldnt feel to bad for him though he always has a knack for dating great looking women with Kristin,Lauren and Hayden in his life.

No, Stephen never dated Sophia. Sofia's been dating the same guy (Jon Foster) for about a year and a half now.
