Turns out, it's not all fun in the sun on The Hills.
This week's episode focuses on Lauren and Whitney's internship duties at Teen Vogue, and - gasp! - actually shows them doing something other than sitting at their computers gossiping all day. Maybe these stars really are just like Us!
As the all-important Fashion Week approaches, Whit and LC are whisked away to New York City by boss Lisa Love to discuss party-planning for a mag bash at Teen Vogue's Manhattan HQ. But just as soon as the girls pack their bags for the Big Apple, we learn that Whitney will be a busy little worker bee while her counterpart is off "assisting" at a Marc Jacobs model casting.
Back at Teen Vogue's nerve center, Whitney's sweating blonde bullets presenting project deets to the suits, who throw her curve-ball questions! (Does it really matter how many trees or lighting fixtures there are at the venue?)
But our girl pulls through just as we knew she would, wiping the sweat off her brow just before her bestie returns from the swanky showroom. Lauren gushes that she met Jacobs himself and fortunately managed to shy away from any boys named Gavin.
With the NYC presentation in the can, the girls head back home, where Brody and Spencer's dude-vorce is getting ugly. The gist: Brody won't return Spencer's phone calls, presumably because he's still miffed at Speidi for those rumors.
But all is well and good once Bro-dog has a heartfelt gossip sesh with LC, who admits she doesn't want to be held responsible for the boys' break-up. Brody appears to agree, but, if you ask Us, it looked like he was hoping for a little less conversation and a little more action.
Up Next Week: Whitney and Lauren gear up for L.A. Fashion Week and their big-time bash. How will they handle the pressure?
What did you think of last night's episode? Talk about it here!

I loved that there was hardly any Speidi! woohoo. It made the episode great. It was also great to see more of Whitney. She is so funny.
Brody and Lauren were cute at the end. It was sweet of Lauren to try to encourage Brody to be friends with Spencer again if that's what he wants.
it was ok. but, honestly with all the talk about the show being fake. it kinda puts the fun out of watching the show.
There has been talk about the show being fake since....forever, it's still entertainment so I enjoy it. I liked the fact that there wasnt a whole lot of Speidi involved. This episode reminded me a lil bit of the first season.
I wasnt really feeling the dress Whitney wore for the meeting. maybe they do wear things like that in the N.Y. offices but I thought it was a bit much, even a little sweater or jacket would have toned it down a little bit.I thought Lauren's was cute.
When Lauren met Marc she didnt seem to surprised or like she even cared. Maybe she didnt want to be too star struck or something.
The ending was cool. I thought it was cool of Lauren to not want to be the cause of a friendship ending especially since they've been friends for so long. I understood where Brody was coming from on how even if he and Spencer became friends again it will never be the same.
Them cuddling up on the couch kinda reminded me of the relationship Lauren and Stephen use to have. They were always there for eachother and stuff.
Spencer needs to get a job ASAP. He sat around the entire episode and he looks kind of crazy with the number of times that he showed up at Heidi's job. I couldn't stop laughing at every scene that he was in. He looks like a freeloader who needs something to do!
Also, I loved Lauren's dress in New York but I didn't like Whitney's. It would have been cute if she was attending a cocktail party, but she was giving a presentation. Her dress was extremely unprofessional.
I think this show is sad. Lauren has a fake job and a fake boyfriend who gets into fake fights over her. I wonder if she knows her life is fake.
^ I wonder if you know how pathetic your life is. If you don't like the show or Lauren because you think its fake, then why bother commenting about it? Or even watch it? Go outside. Stop stressing over Lauren's life. Be free....
BEST SHOW OF THE SEASON THUS FAR!!! I LOVED IT.... I GOT MY OLD HILLS BACK EVEN IF IT WAS JUST FOR ONE NIGHT!!! AMAZING!!! I MADE ME WANT TO GO BACK AND WATCH SEASON 1 ALL OVER AGAIN!!!
I loved last night episode. It is what the hills should be about minus the spencer/brody stupidity.
Whitney- I love her, but I wonder how far will she go in the fashion industry that is extremely competitive. She did not rehearsed her presentation; she wore a ridiculous dress and during the presentation how many times did she say "like" and "ummm". She seems a little flaky at times and if she wants to move up the coporate ladder at TV she is going to have to shape up. Super Emily would have rocked the presentation.
Lauren- Love her too. I love her outfit. I thought she reacted well to working the casting when she thought she was just going to meet someone... She did a good job. However, she should have stood up to meet Marc Jacobs.
Brody and Lauren- too cute. They are both gorgeous and so compatible. They need to start dating even if it is just for the show. The end of the epi was so sweet just them lying on the couch and watching television.
Heidi- Did anyone think that Heidi could be a little more supportive of spencer. After spencer's chat with Frankie, he basically spill his gut to Heidi and all she could say was "well" and shake her head. She could have comfortated him a little after all the boy is human and he lost his best friend of so many years.
Spencer- I kinda feel bad for him this epi. It seems that he really miss Brody. Yet, I dont think the break up is just because of LC. Like Brody says he has "personal reasons".
Too bad there were no Lo and Audrina in this episodes. MTV should continue to focus more on the girls at their respective jobs and they personal love life and less on spencer/brody or sex tape rumors.
Thank you! I was just about to say that I thought Lauren should have stood up when she met Marc Jacobs. It's just professional courtesy because he's the superior in that situation.
*Sigh* Just goes to show how much these girls have to learn. And it makes me feel old knowing it!
I felt sorry for Lauren that she had to work all day in high heels. Oh well.
I liked both Whitney's and Lauren's dresses.
I thought the way Spencer and Frankie 'bumped' into eachother was planned but I'm used to these 'accidental' meetings from Laguna. The producers probably wanted them to talk so this is how they handled it.
I don't think Lauren wanted Spencer and Brody to be friends again, I think she just didn't want to be the reason they weren't.
LMAO at the comments about the show being fake and not fun to watch anymore but they still watch it and run here to comment on it.
THIS SHOW IS SO FAKE. IT SUCKS!!
^so do you.
Is it possible Lauren didn't stand up to meet Marc Jacobs because that wasn't the first take? Just asking. Not disputing that she has much to learn.
7:53 You so funny
Even if it was not the first time she was meeting him... proper decorum dictates that she stand up to greet him. He is superior to her and apparently her favorite designer. It was completely rude and inappropriate. I love Lauren but I have to call her out on that.
Lauren was all smiles when Brody told her that he has he reasons not to call spencer. She does not want him to be spencer's friend at the same time she does not want to be the reason they are not friend.
Whitney and Lauren are seriously two of the most gorgeous girls on the show.
I still love the show and refuse to believe that it is all fake. I think certain scenes are arranged by producers. However, I think the meat of the program is real.
Lauren has met Marc like three times before. She even went to his private party way back in Feb after his fall fashion show where she sat in the front row.
The old hills are back, thank god.
I really liked this episode, I feel like I could watch it over and over again without getting bored, which is something I haven't been able to do so far (apart from the vegas episode lol. Maybe it was the lack of speidi, i don't know. My favourite bit was at the end when Lauren and Brody were talking, it nice to see a good friendship between them and that Lauren's kind of in control of what happens between them this time, whereas last time, she was pretty much following his lead. Brody is hook, sinker and all. Spencer looked knda crazy/scared when he left the message on Brody's phone, I've never seen eyes dart about so much. Whitney, whtney whitney, her presentation was so uncomfortable but she has so much poise, you gotta give her kudos. It was rather dumb for her not to have rehearsed the presentation before actauly doing it.
Little tidbit that i really enjoyed was when Lauren put on the white fedora, it looked so sexy on her, I actually want one
Wow, I'm surprised this was every body's fave episode. I thought it was only so so. Mind you I loved seeing Whitney & Lauren together! Their relationship has evolved into such a cute friendship! The things that bothered me were the set up for Lauren to work Marc Jacobs - what 2nd year intern would ever get to do that??? And subsequently (sp?) Whitney having to do the presentation on her own. Nothing like a last minute change to terrify you! I think Whitney is really smart and will go far but she needs to be a little more aggressive. She was so great when she was showing Lisa Love the church. She needs to always be that condfident because they were deliberatly giving her a hard time in NY. I think they wanted to see how she would handle herself under pressure.
As for Brody and Lauren - I am trying to keep an open mind but he just doesn't do it for me. I don't see the chemistry all you guys see. I just see a beautiful girl and a good looking guy with no sparks. I can tell Lauren likes and trusts him but I think it ends at friendship/casual hookups. Which is totally fine - whatever works for them. I guess I just miss the way Lauren used to lookat Stephen and Jason. I don't really see any of that w/ Brody.
Fave scene: the tasting for Teen Vogue. It was so great to see Lauren & Whitney FINALLY getting to somewhat socialize (even if it was work related) w/ Lisa Love. Lisa even made a joke. Granted it was slightly at Whitney's expense but it was funny!! Lauren was too cute she looked at Whitney first to see if she was OK befire she laughed. Again, love love love e how that friendship has evolved!!
The Hills are alive once again. This is my fav episode of season 3. I love Lauren and Whitney and all the scenes at teen vogue. LC and Brody are super cute but they need to make up their minds. They have CRAZY chemistry between them. This would be a more mature relationship for Lauren. Again I want more episodes like this one.
^So interesting that people chose this as their favorite episode.
I guess they liked the NY/California scenes?
Thanks 12:30. I thought the conversation between Lauren and Marc Jacobs seemed alittle comfortable for a first meeting.
(almost friendly). That explains alot.
Love Whitney but was surprised she chose that dress for the meeting.
No one else at the meeting was that dressed up. It looked more like a pretty party dress to me.
She looks good in anything tho.
This episode made me wonder about the girls' social cues.
For one, I didn't understand Whitney's dress at all - does she not own a suit? I know they work for a fashion magazine but I think you could still be fashionable while looking professional. I didn't really get her outfit when she interviewed last season either, but this one was way crazier. And I actually loved her dress, but it was not the right setting. Lauren's dress was much more fitting for the occasion.
And then secondly, I didn't understand Lauren not getting up to greet Marc Jacobs. I don't even think he needed to be a superior; I know I would stand up to meet a new employee. And even if you had already met him, I would still think you would stand up being as he obviously took special time to come out to greet you and he's a pretty important person. She was just like "hey" and looked so unenthusiastic.
Of course, who knows what the deal is. The producers probably told Whitney to wear that and for Lauren to stay seated.
I also loved this epi. It was the best one they have done for this season thus far. Whitney dress was cute. I am in the minority because I did not think it was inappropriate for the interview. Super Emily wore very short skirt last year to the GMA oscars special. LC should have stood up regarless if she had met MJ before. I think she was just overcome with admiration and just froze. That is the only conclusion I can come up with. I miss Lo. Brody and LC are beautiful but I am not sure what is going to happen. This season needs a theme in order for it to come together. It has been very disorganized lately.
