Maybe "Hills" bad boy Spencer Pratt isn't so bad, after all.
The MTV reality show cast member quietly came to North Carolina last week and participated in charitable work -- without tipping the paparazzi off first.
Pratt visited Kings Mountain last Thursday and Friday with friend and Kings Mountain native Ron Feemster. Feemster, a record producer known as Neff-U, is the man behind Pratt's girlfriend Heidi Montag'supcoming album.
The guys went to Kings Mountain High School -- the 26-year-old Feemster's alma mater -- on Dec. 20 to attend academic pep rallies for students, according to the Shelby Star. Sound lame? Maybe -- until Feemster, with Pratt by his side, started handing out cash to students. One student who had the highest GPA in the school got $1,000. Three others got $1,000 each when they won a raffle. Other students got $100 traveler's checks.
By the end of the day, Feemster doled out nearly $20,000, including $10,000 to the school.
The guys continued their good deeds by visiting the Kings Mountain Family YMCA during an after-school program for underprivileged children.
Heather Wilson, family coordinator for the Kings Mountain Y, told me the guys spent about an hour meeting the children and telling them about their backgrounds. Wilson said Feemster lived a hardscrabble life, growing up on food stamps in the small rural town. She also said Pratt talked about how "God has changed his life and how it's happened in the past two or three weeks. ... He said it's important for the kids to be morally aware of what they're doing."
Sounds as though Montag's devotion to religion is rubbing off on him.
And despite what she heard about Pratt's MTV exploits from some of the high school girls she works with, Wilson described him as "super, super nice" and said his comments to the children were "very inspirational."
"I was very impressed by how down to earth and sincere he was," Wilson said.
He is such a great guy. He is doing all this great stuff for the world/community. MTV makes him look evil. But in real life, he does all this charity! Its good for him. I wish more people would do stuff like this!
I'm all for doing charitable work and i truly commend spencer for serving food to the homeless on thanksgiving and christmas but how exactly is throwing money at these kids going to help them better themselves and their future? Why not set up an after school program or an under 17 club - things that might actually make a difference!
no one said the guy wasn't a tool - that's a given! So many people talk about being charitable but never bother to actually donate their time. Doesn't change that he's an ass - it's just cool to see another person pitching in and helping out is all.
its probably just some scam. ew how can you people like him? he's an obnoxious idiot, he's just doing it to get the push overs to like him. im not buying it.

I wish I could say, "Good for him!" but all I can muster is "Gag. Me." Nothing he does at this point will change his reputation. He's still a tool.
