Did The Apprentice head for The Hills?
Lauren Conrad has parted ways with Teen Vogue, where she worked as an intern, but the 21-year-old reality star says nobody told her: “You’re fired.”
“No, no, it was a decision I made because I was kind of done,” she told PEOPLE on Friday at the opening of the Jimmy Choo Flagship store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. “I’ve been doing it for about two years, so I’m kind of done.”
Conrad hasn’t found another part-time job — “Honestly, I can’t tell you because I haven’t decided yet. I’m looking,” she said at the opening, which raised money for the Entertainment Industry Foundations’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund — but is leaning toward something in the fashion world. “I really like working backstage at fashion shows, so I’m looking kind of in production,” she says. “I love it. It’s like the most amazing high. It’s like the best feeling.”
Of course, she also has her day job — being Lauren Conrad on MTV’s popular The Hills, which is returning for another season.
So, will we see her with a guy on the show? “I hope so!” she says.

I thought that the job at teen vogue was basically a hookup from mtv?????
She went to a Jimmy Choo event, she moving up I guess.
she likes to use the word like lol
she is awesome!
FAKE.
I'm glad she's moving on from teen vogue; she was there too long anyways. hopefully her next job is somewhere fun.
I love how she acts as if it was her decision.
^^ lol, I know right?
Her extensions look so gross and drab in this pic.
ewww
If anything it is Kristin's extensions that are super gross. Lauren always looks good.
She is so dumb. So she, AND Whitney, simoultaneously decided to "part ways" with Teen Vogue. Ya ass got fired fool. There's no way around it because that would be too big of a coincidence for whitney and lauren to leave at the same time, especially when Whitney's job was so prestigious to have right out of college
i hate how lauren assumes her fans have the mentality of a 5-year-old
it's not really as simple as either you or lauren are describing it. based on the other post on here, it sounds like mtv had an contract with teen vogue, which they ended. teen vogue originally made the agreement in the hopes that it would provide the magazine with more publicity, which didn't really happen (or at least, wasn't reflected in sales). in any case, internships are only supposed to be for a year or two, they're not permanent jobs.
3:21- It's so unnecessary to bring up Kristin in a Lauren post.
The recent cover with Lauren and Whitney on the cover was the second highest selling of the year.
So it did increase mag sales.
right, but they can put them on the cover without having them actually work at the magazine, with camera crews following them and everything. anyway, I'm just basing that on the press release by mtv/teen vogue.
To Mirelli... actually in the Paris previews... you did hear Whitney saying "i think i am gonna leave Teen Vogue"
ok people, do we all now realize that the only reason Lauren "interned" there was because MTV hooked her up, not because of genuine talent and hard work?
Now I'm just waiting for the same veil to part and show how "real" her classes at FIDM are as well as her lovesome relationship with Brody.
9:53, I agree. I really don't think she got the internship on her own merit. It was an MTV hook-up plain and simple.
It seemed like a very unrealistic internship as well. To be fair, I'm not familiar with the fashion world so please correct me if I'm wrong, but I really doubt they send interns on special trips to Paris or put them in charge of photo shoots. And I'm sure most interns do more work than fishing wicks out of candle wax.
this bitch is so stupid. she denies any negative press and because she says its not true we are all supposed to believe her fake scripted ass? idiots.
5:10, no you're right. There was obviously a lot of benefits she got from MTV's doing.
TeenVogue wanted to end their arrangement because Lauren was in the press for having a sex tape and a feud and clubbing all the time and they don't want Paris Hilton-lite to represent their company, so when their contract for last season expired, they opted out.
Harper's Bazaar Magazine Internship, which is probably similar to Vogue's does send interns to different locales throughout the world, wherever they are needed because they would rather have their own doing grunt work as opposed to paying individuals. Interns work for free and the magazines have deals and incentives when it comes to airlines, so traveling to do errands and working as an intern isn't all that out of the ordinary. Regardless of whether or not MTV helped her land the job, she did well on her own merit and that has to count for something.
sorry, I'm going to have to disagree. She didn't seem like she did well on her own merit at all. All in all she didn't strike me as a particularly hard working person that took any initiative to do anything or had any particular stand out qualities. She kind of just did the bare minimum and usually didn't even do a good job at that.
^IA, credit to her for taking opportunities available to her, but I don't think her ability was what got her the job, and her clothing line has been pretty mediocre IMO.
^^ I totally agree with you on the first season - I was like who is this spoiled brat who’s obviously never had to work hard for anything? Her interview (horrible), the whole party crashing thing (IMO totally her fault - she could have said no, plus the only reason she got caught was because they were in her VIP area and she was sitting down and hanging out with them), whining about not being able to spend the whole day with her boyfriend for his birthday (cry me a river), the whole Paris trip, and countless other unprofessional doings....she didn’t deserve it at all.
HOWEVER, I really think she got a lot better after that. No, she wouldn’t have the job if it weren’t for her tv show and she’s still not the most driven person, but at least she was taking advantage of the opportunity and seemed to enjoy the experience a lot more. I do think she's grown and I respect that.
But I have to wonder if she’ll ever get a degree from FIDM...from what I can tell she takes one class a semester (if that) anymore. I do get kind of annoyed when people praise her for going to school...it’s an associate degree and if she was at all serious about her education she would have it by now. She obviously has lots of time for social activities so I don’t buy that she’s that busy. It’s certainly not a priority for her and I think it’s just for show.
