Sunday, April 13, 2008 || Brody Backing Barack

Another fight could be brewing on The Hills! This time it may be about, of all things, the presidential election.

Heidi Montag made headline news recently when she announced she supports Sen. John McCain.

Well, now Brody Jenner tells me he’s for Sen. Barack Obama.

“He’s just cool!” Jenner said at last night’s Wrigley party for the NBA Entertainment League at club LAX in Hollywood. “I mean, he’s young and I think people would take us more seriously with Iraq and everything...Personally, I think we’re either going to have a woman president or we’re going to have a black president, which are both amazing. Right now it’s time for change, and I think both of them are great. But [Obama] is cool. I just think he’s cool.”

A spokesperson for Obama could not be immediately reached.

I hate that the presidency is essentially a popularity contest.

I have nothing against Brody(in fact, I actually like him) but, boy, couldn't he have actually articulated something here? "He's cool." Sounds like he is making a very informed decision...*rolls eyes* And, I really can't even begin to figure out how he thinks Obama being *young* will cause people(other countries?)to take us more seriously in regards to Iraq. Um, unfortunately being *young* usually doesn't result in people taking you more seriously.

That's the dumbest rationale for choosing a candidate that I've ever heard. It's depressing that someone as stupid as brody even gets to vote.

I'm suprised...Brody looks republican.
And could he sound any stupider? "He's cool, he's just cool"
However, an endorsment for Obama is good in my books, despite how poorly articulated their endorsment is.

This is what happens when candidates are voted on based on their popularity and not experience. The democratic nomination shows how said the system is becoming. Look at the resumes. Most candidates wouldn't even be qualified to be a CEO at a major company let alone the President. What happened to moving up in the system? Run for Senator, get experience, Run for Govenor, etc.

well actually people it's true that a young president would be taken more seriously. Proof:he's taken way more seriously than hillary clinton ...
And if you take the exemple of Sarkozy who's young too,he's way more pragmatic and his energy of being a 50 instead of 70 is actually one of his biggest assets..

If people take Barack Oboma seriously then it's certainly not just because of his age. Sure, the youthful exuberance he brings to his campaign helps, but ultimately, it's the whole package- his platform, his message, his experience, and vision- are what people look at. In fact, younger presidential candidates, like Obama, face more scrutiny because they usually have less political experience. FYI, Hillary Clinton is only 60 unlike McCain who is 71. The average age of US presidents is 55.

Umm...who takes Obama more seriously than Hilary Clinton? And, more importantly, who takes Obama more seriously than Clinton when it comes to the Iraq War/foreign policy?

Brody was speaking about *people* taking *us* more seriously *with Iraq.* I fail to see how a *young* president will make other countries leaders take us more seriously.

Youthful exuberance is great but it is not a replacement for experience. I just don't see how any of our allies will feel better about our foreign policy because our president is under the age of 60.
