Famed producer RedOne — who worked on Heidi Montag's new single "Fashion" spoke to Usmagazine.com about her latest song and upcoming plans to release an album.
Us: Tell Us about "Fashion."
It sounds amazing. The song is all about fashion and all about her - shopping, clothes, her whole aura. She's really taken it to the next level.... We are working on more [songs], and it's crazy, shocking stuff that will surprise everybody.
So you wrote "Fashion?"
Yes. I'm writing and producing her whole album. We are going to do it big. She finally found someone she connected with — me. It's all about the connection. When it doesn't work with an artist, it doesn't work. With her, it's perfect. You can tell in the music that we connect.
Can Heidi sing?
Definitely. She's really good, and I love her personality and the way it comes through in a song. She makes you believe it. She's great in the studio.
What does Spencer do in the studio?
He just chills - he loves listening to her.
Will she sign to a label soon?
We don't want to talk about that yet. We have offers and big things, but [we're] taking our time. The label is the easiest part. Once you find the right music, it's over!
Where do you see her career going?
I definitely think she's a star. She has a star quality — a powerful personality with no limits. She can do anything and make it sound credible. She's a born star.

It's a good song...I love how she totally comes through in her music...Only certain artists can do that and sound legit. Her music is so fun and dancey and catchy. It reminds me of Hilary Duff and Ashely Tisdale. Except, everything that Ashley Tisdale did wrong, Heidi does right. Hopefully she'll get signed to a good label that will give her album the same treatment those other girls got because I know she can do it, she has the passion and the drive to make a great album.

Have you not heard the Paris Hilton album or Brooke Hogan album? if you think Heidi's singing sounds fake...I mean, you can't even HEAR paris on her own album aside from a couple lines here and there. If you read the credits to the songs, there's like 3 other singers listed on each song. With Heidi's music, I can totally hear her voice coming through on like 98% of all her tracks which is pretty good for a pop singer. (by the way, I've been doing music almost all my life so I have a pretty good ear for things like this) Anyway, I think Heidi's getting better and better and I like her sound and I'm glad she's making music :)
why are there people willing to defend these cads? if it weren't for the show this girl could not have a career as a singer. She has a weak voice at best, but thanks to the proliferation of people like paris hilton, we are now subjected to mediocre talentless twats like speidi who try to make us believe they are talented. there are true musicians, songwriters and singers with tremendous abilities who are more deserving than these two.
^I agree. Its the exact same thing with Lauren and her "fashion" career.
But whatever - no one's going to make me listen to Heidi's music or wear Lauren's clothes. It sucks for the true talents who have to struggle, but I can't blame them for jumping on the opportunity to follow their dreams. The good news is that we all have plenty of options.
