Monday, July 21, 2008 || Heidi & Spencer Plan Trip to Iraq
Heidi Montag says her late stepbrother — who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan — has inspired her to visit the Middle East to perform for U.S. troops.
“My brother was an airborne ranger in Afghanistan and Iraq,” the Hills star tells Extra in a new interview. “It’s very important to me and important to Spencer to support the troops and go over there.”
Montag’s stepbrother, Eric O’Hara, 24, who was a veteran of combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, died in an accident in March at the Steamboat Springs, Colo., hotel where he worked.
While Montag and Pratt are eagerly planning their trip — they may be getting a little help with travel arrangements from friend Meghan McCain, the daughter of presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain.
“She’s very sweet,” Pratt told Extra. “I think Meghan McCain is helping organize Heidi and our Iraq trip. Her dad definitely has some pull with the military. I think she’s going to put that together for us.”
Also on the horizon for the couple: a new video game, which Pratt says will be sold at Kiston. “It’s top secret,” he says. “Get ready. All your wildest dreams are going to be in it.”

oh god, I hope Spencer f*cks up in the near future and says some retarded sh*it about Meghan McCain. I would love to see the whole republican party out to ruin his name.
They have made themselves look so rediculous that's it's so hard to admit when they are going something actually good... especially since they pretty much always have ulterior motives..
I highly doubt they are doing anything truly good here. They are not going to the Middle East out of the goodness of their hearts, they are publicly planning out this trip to grab attention as always.
^OMG I cant believe you're trying to put a bad spin on them going over there. Why don't YOU go over there!! This is a really huge sacrifice and they're putting their LIVES in danger by doing this. I can't believe you had the nerve to say something negative about supporting the troops.

5:49 no need to get your panties in a bunch, I was not saying anything negative about supporting troops. I am however criticizing Speidi for exploiting the concept of supporting our troops and the war. I personally think they're announcing this trip for selfish attention as always not because they genuinely care.
Would anyone really want to see them? I think I would be almost insulted considering that nearly everything they've done has been for publicity. I mean, these are people risking their lives while Speidi go around faking engagements and break-ups. They're a facet of what's wrong with America and I don't think the troops need to be reminded they're fighting for the likes of Speidi, know what I mean?
Plus, are they really the caliber of performers? I could see people being like cool Mariah Carey or Jessica Simpson etc...but Heidi Montag? I think we'd just hear crickets. And to be fair, we'd probably hear the same thing if it was like the cast of the Hills or some other reality star.
They should just send care packages or something. The whole performing thing just reeks of publicity and self-satisfaction.
