I saw video of this event and I was skeptical before that she was the designer for this line but now I'm CONVINCED she ISN'T the designer!!!! She's so immature, couldn't even describe any of the pieces and most of the time stood there awkwardly while she shrugged her shoulder and said, 'uh, this is it' as she pointed to each piece! I use to be pro LC but there are so many other TALENTED and CREATIVE and HARD-WORKING people that deserve what she did NOTHING to achieve so I'm not a fan of hers anymore.
And ENOUGH with the @#$%ing leggings - matte or shiny!!!!
it's amazing how people make a judgment about an event based on a minute long clip. needless, lauren has always been awkward and she never was well spoken. that's not to say she doesn't have a hand in designing the clothes for her line. i think in her case, the question is to what extent is she involved? who knows. but given her background in fashion, i'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and say she was ill prepared for this event. She needs to work with a media coach because if she can't articulate her brand properly then people aren't going to buy her clothes, even if she's involved every step of the way.
Obviously 3:12 isn't of the creative type. I am and I'm in the field and I know when we have to explain and critique our creations, we know it inside and out without any coaching or prep for speaking in public because it came from our mind, heart, and talent. Have you never watched Project Runway? Those people aren't coached and they can speak to the top people in fashion about their designs because THEY CREATED THEM!
Lauren's just an immature bimbo that would rather apply an extra coat of lip gloss while she's boozing it up at Villa so the next time she pouts over Brody eyeing another chick, her lips will be extra highlighted!
I don't know what my creativity had to do with my comment but whatever...I've definitely witnessed people clam up in front of audiences--especially when it comes to public speaking and it's not a reflection on their intelligence, creativity or ability. Lauren has always seemed awkward speaking in front of big crowds. I always think back to season 1 of laguna beach when kristin was making fun of lauren for not being able to carry on articulate conversations. Just because she can't express herself properly doesn't necessarily mean she has not been involved in the design process of her clothes. Like I said before, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt.
Even if she didn't design the line, - which I don't believe is the case - she would have prepared herself as best as she could, especially with all of the recent scrutiny. She appeared to be more nervous than anything. I would have done the same thing.
I actually agree with 1:48. I, personally am a horrible speaker myself, but when something is your baby that you actually created from square one and have been working on for months/years, you know it inside out and can talk about it regardless of how nervous you are.
Describing her line should especially not be difficult if she is actually as involved in her line as she claims to be. If she was, she should already have been describing her pieces a million times over to the clothing production people, etc. when trying to create her pieces. Describing the pieces should be second nature to her by the time they're actually produced.
What's even worse is that this reflects on her work ethic. Even if she was never actually involved in the design of her pieces, due to the recent scrutiny, you'd think that she'd at least come better prepared to support her clothing line. She didn't even do that. Plus, she's also been in the business and public eye long enough to not be able to use nervousness as an excuse to this extent. She's hosted events and done numerous candid interviews. This is just lame.
I just watched the video and you guys weren’t kidding. She was just so ill-prepared. She has definitely gotten less awkward since LB - she's hosted events and done lots of interviews and she's pretty much a pro now when it comes to that stuff. I think she just didn't have anything to say. I do think that she designs the clothes herself, but how little she had to say does kind of speak to how uncreative it is IMO.
On a separate but somewhat similar note, I noticed that the description for one of the skirts on her website actually suggests wearing the skirt with a “wife beater.” I mean, I use that term, too, but I would never, ever use that professionally. What's even worse is that she’s now doing that campaign with mark that is “committed to preventing the cycle of dating abuse and partner violence.” That's the kind of stuff that annoys me when celebrities get into charity - some of them do really get into it, but I think this just shows how little Lauren actually cares. It's just something to attach her name to.
On the bright side, they’ve corrected the name of her collection from “le vie en rose” to “la vie en rose” (although it’s still wrong in the URL).
hahahhaah I still can't get over how she spent "a summer" in Paris and still doesn't know the difference between a masculine and feminine article for such a common french word.
Well, she only spent around a week in Paris. Don't you remember, she gave up the summer Paris job to lounge around Malibu with her loser boyfriend?
But regardless, she (or at least her team) should have checked it before using it. I'm assuming it was named from the movie - just look at the damn DVD box. I just can't believe no one bothered to check it - it's a nationwide clothing line for chrisakes!

I think she looks cute here - love the make-up and hair.
She seems to be having shoe problems - her toes look like they're trying to break free.
Lauren loves all the skin tight pants. I don't think they look good on here.
^Only if you have Audrina's shape can you pull them off.
she look so old in the face-
She looks great.
Lauren looks good!
She looks great, but she needs to find something new to wear, I'm sick of always seeing her in black leggings.

Even Heidi's introduction of each of her designs on the View was a lot more descriptive and informative.

everytime I see LC she's wearing
1. skin tight black tights
or
2. skin tight jeans
youd think she'd fine something to more flatter her body .
