Lauren "Taking a Hiatus" From Clothing Line

Lauren Conrad's clothing line is temporarily on hold, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com.

"She is taking a hiatus, but the line still exists and will continue," her rep tells Us. "The sales of her line in the first year doubled what was projected. However, in light of the economy, it's a good time for Lauren to take a few seasons off to re-work her still budding line.

"She will look over the past seasons to determine what worked and what didn't work so that she may design clothing that will appeal to her fans," the rep continues.

The reality star -- who's filming her fifth and final season of The Hills (premieres April 6) -- launched the Lauren Conrad Collection in fall 2007. It features mostly jersey dresses named after friends that range from $100 to $215.

According to the New York Post, which first reported the news, showrooms recently received a memo saying delivery of spring and summer lines had been canceled.

In March, Conrad -- who was often filmed for The Hills in class at Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising -- told Us that after the show ended, she'd be able to "spend more time doing what I really love -- fashion and design."

Last July, Conrad told Us she wasn't bothered when West Hollywood boutique Kitson stopped carrying her line.

"I spend the most amount of time on the line, and it's the thing that makes me the least amount of money," she told Us.

Conrad is still the face of Avon's Mark makeup, and her first book L.A. Candy hits stores June 16.
