Monday, January 14, 2008 || Whitney is still unemployed
Is The Hills gal Whitney Port taking a job at W Magazine, as has been rumored? MTV is said to be looking to find Port and fellow star Lauren Conrad a new fashion-rag home now that Teen Vogue is no longer participating in the series—but it's not W. "It's bullshit," a source at the magazine tells Radar. "No one in the fashion department has heard anything about her working here. And she doesn't have a gig in the editorial department, either."
It's worth noting that the W rumors aren't entirely baseless: Emily Weiss, the insanely perfect Stepford robot Whitney worked with at Teen Vogue (she was the one who intimidated Port with her superior knowledge of horticulture), is now a fashion assistant at W, which may be feeding speculation that Whitney is headed there. In any case, we promise not to rest until we have a definitive answer to this exceedingly important question.
I thought Whitney had a good position at teen vogue. I remember her stating that she didn't want her personal life on t.v. which was why they always filmed her at work working. Seems like she is contradicting herself being that she is leaving Teen Vogue for the Hills. Correct me if I'm wrong but the hills is all about what Whitney is against. Basically what I mean is that the Hills is all about being drunk and partying. I guess Whitney really never cared about her career and more about her social life. This new unemployed status proves that.
I thought Whitney and Lauren were FIRED. That is what I read, not that Whitney left. I wondered why Teen Vogue would fire Whitney since she was there longer than Lauren (before the show even started) and she got a full-time position there.
I think she came to Teen Vogue at the same time as Lauren...I remember the first episode them sitting there as the new interns.
And the full-time position was just for the show - she had graduated college and so they just created a new position for her. They tried to make her the boss of Lauren, but it didn't seem any different to me...maybe just some added faux responsibility. Basically, they just shoved a bigger desk in the closet and that was the promotion.
And I'm sorry, they were "fired" - in as it wasn't their decision. You don't leave a full-time job without having a new job waiting in the wings.
Also, why can't they just show Lauren preparing for her fashion show? And I like Whitney and all, but if she doesn't fit in she can just show up at Les Deux every once in awhile and its no sweat off my back. Showing Lauren prepare for her show would be so much more interesting than another fake internship somewhere.

Whitney is a useless character. They should just get rid of her...
