Wednesday, March 19, 2008 || Audrina Patridge Explains Nude Photos
Hills star Audrina Patridge is responding to the naked photos of her that hit the Web Wednesday.
"Regarding the photos that someone released to the public today without my consent, I wanted you to know they were taken when I was just out of high school and beginning to model," Patridge said in a bulletin to her friends on Myspace Celebrity.
Patridge says the shots, which were allegedly submitted to (and rejected by) Playboy, were supposed to be "artistic and not in any way provocative" and "not meant to be seen by the public."
"I was naive, overly trusting of people and inexperienced," she adds. "I thought that to be a model you had to be comfortable in front of the camera. I'm not ashamed of these photos, but I don’t want my young fans to think they have to do what I did. I hope people can learn from my inexperience. It's been almost five years since I posed for that shoot, and during that time I have learned many lessons about this business."
Check out the latest issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now, for interviews with Audrina and Lauren Conrad about their friendship and The Hills.
i don't want to judge her because she obviously just wanted to make it in hollywood and thought that's what she needed to do, however, the part i don't understand in her interview is that these pictures were "not meant to be seen by the public" however, if they had been accepted by playboy that's exactly what would have happened.
That was my first thought as well- if they weren't "provocative" and "weren't meant to be seen by the public", why exactly would you submit them to playboy?
Right, because they're well-known for their tasteful, artistic photoshoots...
I haven't seen the pictures since I'm at work - are they really that racy?
Plenty of legitimate celebrities have posed for Playboy and plenty of playmates have gone on to be legitimate celebrities...I don't see why its such a big deal. If its because she's a "role model" - well, all she pretty much does is go to clubs, openings, and get drunk so I think her role model status is pretty low as it is.
they were test shots. tests shots are NOT meant to be seen by the general public. They're not very good shots so my guess is aside from the embarrasment of them being "published" she's also not very proud of the quality of them either. I'm not an advocate for playboy (at all) but they do a great editing job. cara zavaletta (from road rules) would up looking gorgeous and she's not all that pretty!
i don't see the big deal. we're all young, naive, and make bad decisions at least once in our lives, it's human nature. so what? she admits to it... now get over it!
I agree completely with you guys. Seriously. She is no disgrace to women. That person needs to live back in the fifties when women were told what to do all of the time. LOL!!!!
Audrina is not a disgrace to women. She is just a girl who is very proud of her body and likes to show it off.
I do wish she'd stop pulling this bull about being young and naive. Point blank, she doesn't mind posing nude and being a lust object. Whatever, lots of people are like that, just own up to it already.
oh yeah, I forgot to add, I really do believe she regrets doing those photos in the first place. But not because she thinks it's wrong to pose nude or anything, more because she was able to become famous via other means (The Hills).

sooo true! What's up with that?
It's a nice little publicity stunt, I guess.
