We'll admit, it never would have even occurred to us to ask Hills star Lauren Conrad about her personal politics if her arch-nemesis, Heidi Montag, hadn't come out earlier this month as a McCain supporter. After that, we didn't really have a choice. When we saw Conrad at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner on Saturday, we asked her who would have her vote. "You know what? I believe in a private ballot," she said. "I’ve done several things to, like, encourage people to vote. But I think when you go in and endorse somebody it kind of affects how people look at you or look at candidates." That's disappointing. But luckily, asking questions is not the only trick up our reporting sleeve. During emcee Craig Ferguson's speech, he said: "I'm a new American so I'm trying to decide which party to vote for." We sensed an opportunity coming. "Should I vote for the Republicans?" he asked. We seized the moment and craned our necks in Conrad's direction. She clapped wildly. "Or the Democrats?" Ferguson asked. Conrad immediately placed her hands on the table and wrinkled her nose to her friend. Aha! What clinched the issue was when, moments later, she totally did not laugh at one of Ferguson's best lines: "What should President Bush do after this? I don't know, maybe get a job with more vacation." OMG, Heidi and Lauren are both Republicans and are rooting for John McCain. They agree on something!
good for her in keeping it to herself. hate when celebs start spewing politics. like everyone else, she has a right to vote for who she wants or not vote at all if she doesn't like either candidate.
HAHAHA well if this article is true, then I'd say Lauren is a severely confused girl. And Heidi--who the hell would believe that girl is a Biblically abiding Republican herself, as she makes herself out to be? She does the most un-Christian things--if I took Heidi to church with me, I'd be worried that God would send a blast of fire from the heavens to burn her ass up...oh wait, did I say burn? I meant melt--she's made of plastic.
She has the right to keep her politics private and it was kind of dumb for these reporters to be in a sense spying on her like that. But if it's true, more power to her. Almost everyone else in Hollywood is Liberal so I'm glad she hasn't been influenced by her environment.
Didn't she say one of the biggest issues for her in this election is same sex marriage? This report of her wrinkling her nose at Democrats and cheering Republicans seems a bit fishy. Not that you have to agree with everything from your party of choice, but I'd think you'd go with the party that goes along with your said major issue. Unless she's against same sex marriage? I don't really think she'd come right out and say that though.
If it's true, do you think she's just a total idiot? A lot of people get their political leanings from their parents and I've always guessed her parents were Republican. Maybe she's just been brought up to be like "Republicans good, Democrats bad" and has no idea what the parties actually stand for. I remember her making some kind of dumb political statements before so I guess it's possible.
She just has no idea what political leanings are involved in each party. She spends her whole day thinking about clothes, make-up, and boys.
I'm pretty positive she's only a republican because her parents are republicans. She has no idea what it means, she just has the black and white view that republicans are good and democrats are bad regardless of the acutal stance they generically have on certain issues (ie. gay marriage).
It is understood and unfortunately quite common for people nowadays to be ignorant in regards to politics. But it is very annoying when people have a strong opinion in politics when they don't even know anything about it. So yes, imo she is politically brain dead and idiotic.

that's pretty sad actually...
that's crap are they really going to base whether she's a rep. or demo based on her wrinkling up her nose.
it's her personal choice but how sad are they!

I figured she might be - most of Orange county is. Although I think Laguna Beach is probably a bit more liberal than the rest of it.
Good for her though for keeping it to herself. I too get tired of celebrities who are always on their soapboxes.
People can be registered republicans and still vote for democrats. It's called voting for the person, not the party.

I think so much less of her now.
Not sure why anyone would be a republican in this day and age. The republican party of old does not really exist anymore.

^I totally agree with you.

assuming what she did was true, of course : P
Apparently Radar checked it out and she is indeed registered as a Republican.
I also read that during the speech, she didn't appreciate the jabs that were made at George Bush. Yeah, I've pretty much lost all respect for her.
