Thursday, August 07, 2008 || Hills Neighbor Not Shopping His Own Series
With all this media coverage of the noisy dent Lauren Conrad and her roomies are making in their cozy Hollywood Hills enclave, a number of neighbors have also been getting more time in the spotlight than usual.
But E! News has exclusively confirmed that Hills-side neighbor and The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll producer Steven Antin is not shopping a reality show about what it's like to bed down a few houses away from L.C., Lauren "Lo" Bosworth and Audrina Patridge.
Thank goodness.
"It’s ridiculous and absurd. The reality-show thing is completely made up and not true," Antin told E! News Wednesday of the recently started rumor that he's trying to capitalize on his geographical proximity to the MTV production.
A Los Angeles Times article published today quoted Stacy Marble, a field agent for L.A. Councilman Tom LaBonge, saying that Antin, being one of the most vehement objectors to the disruption The Hills had wrought on their neighborhood, was shopping his own show.
"The entire street has filed complaints," Antin told us. "Everyone in the neighborhood has filed complaints."
"Everyone," including Conrad's next-door neighbor Toni Guild, who agreed that The Hills' presence is "very disruptive."
"The paparazzi and the tour buses mess up traffic, and the crew members are all around," she told E! News.
We'd say take it up with your local councilman, but…
"The filming permit is valid and is operating in accordance,” LaBonge said. “We will continue to work with the tour buses and [paparazzi] as they disturb the streets."
LaBonge also made an ironic observation, noting that most of the complaints came from people who work in the entertainment industry themselves.
Neighbor Jake Jacobson seconded the notion, saying, “This is what’s known as a high-class problem...For the people that are complaining, you are in the middle of Hollywood. Go move to the desert.”
Franchise, anyone? The Real Hills of…
Calls to Stacy Marble were not returned. The City Attorney’s Office was unable to confirm at press time if The Hills' filming permit is in good standing.
I see where the neighbors are coming from. I live in a college town and it's kind of sad to see students spread to family neighborhoods. And that's just parties, too many cars, and landlords who don't care - I can't imagine having paparazzi and tour buses running up and down my street.
So I guess I can't blame them for trying, but I doubt they're going to be able to do anything. It sucks to have one person cause so much trouble, but I guess that's life.

I agree with the last paragraphs. They live in Hollywood! If you want peace and quiet why would you ever move there??
This is probably the last season anyway. Soon the neighbors will get some relief...until another reality show pops up somewhere else. It's Hollywood!
