Lauren Conrad, the star of "The Hills," a new MTV reality series, trolled for shoes recently at the Santa Monica outpost of Fred Segal with her best friend and co-star, Heidi Montag. It was shortly before "The Hills" began its run, and the two women were relishing not having to look prime-time perfect.
When the show begins, Conrad, 20, said, "then you have to start really worrying about everything you wear, because you know you might be photographed."
Three years ago, Conrad was one of eight well-to-do teenagers chosen to star in "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County," which chronicled the daily lives of the young and indulged in Southern California. The show became a huge success, and MTV bet that "Laguna" fans would want to watch Conrad navigate her charmed post-high-school life in a spinoff. She has left home and attends fashion school in Los Angeles, where she shares a luxury apartment with Montag, and has landed a coveted internship at Teen Vogue.
" 'The Hills' is to 'Laguna Beach' what 'Melrose Place' was to 'Beverly Hills 90210,' " said Tony DiSanto, one of the show's executive producers. "But it wasn't like we said, 'Hey, we need a spinoff.' We just thought it would be cool to watch as L.C. entered into this new phase in her life."

hope the hills returns for a second season and maybe they will focus on jason and lauren maybe getting married
I really enjoyed the hills. It might not have as much drama as LB but Lauren seemed really happy and that made it the show for me. I really hope they are filming another season.
The Hills is ok, but lauren is boring. give kristin the show.
^ Lauren is boring? You dont even know her... she is laid back and quiet but just b/c she doesnt hook up with every guy doesn't mean she is boring. Guess different people like different things. I'd much rather see LC in this show than Kristin in a show.
I much rather see Kristin in a show. she is fun and has a bigger fan base than Lauren. After all, kristin was the breakout star of L.B. and was the most popular charachter, even when Lauren narrated season 1, it seemed like Kristin was the star.
I guess "Dumb & Dumber" won't be on since Heidi broke up with Jordan.
if you rather see Kristin in a show go find one and just let it go!
I don't think Kristin was the only star.LC and Kristin both was the stars of LB.Please get it right!
Why she is boring because she don't act out like Kristin don't get me wrong Kristin looks like fun but why LC got to be boring just because she like to do things that Kristin don't maybe it's fun to her
