By Bill Keveney, USA TODAYThe town's the same, and the stories still run from love to betrayal. But the names and faces have changed for the third season of MTV's teen reality drama Laguna Beach (Wednesday, 10 p.m. ET/PT).
After two seasons following Kristin, L.C., Stephen and friends, Laguna continues its soap-saga format — cameras recording the lives and relationships of a real high school clique — with a new cast of friends, lovers and enemies. A marathon of the first two seasons will start Saturday at 9:30 a.m. ET/PT.
Narration comes from Tessa, a 17-year-old junior who has one of those hard-to-categorize male-female friendships with band lead singer Chase and a rivalry with Kyndra, the stylish ruler of a clique that includes Cami and Lexie. (MTV does not release the last names of cast members, citing security concerns.)
"Age-wise, more of the cast are juniors than we had in Season 1," but the tone remains the same, says creator Liz Gateley, who, with other Laguna producers, chose the new group of local teens from the wealthy California beach town.
"It's still a show about coming of age in high school: first love, first heartbreak, first betrayal by friends."
Wednesday's premiere features a confrontation when Tessa brings an uninvited friend to Kyndra's party.
Kelan, a friend of Chase's, says one reason he participated was to gain exposure for the pair's band, Open Air Stereo. His goal during filming, which concludes later this month, was to avoid conflict.
But "believe me, there's going to be plenty. If somebody doesn't like someone, it's real."
Last season, Laguna averaged 3.2 million viewers and became a talked-about show, especially among target 12-to-24-year olds.
Although some earlier Laguna stars have become minor celebrities — L.C. (Lauren Conrad) starred in spinoff The Hills — neither Kelan nor Tessa says the show results in extra status among their peers.
"I'm pretty much treated the same," Tessa says. "(But) some people are like, 'Oh, you think you're so cool now.' "

Kyndra just seems like a kristin wannabee. I think I will like tessa the best. she's really pretty. Cami and Kyndra are so nasty. I Like raquel too.
I Like tessa and raquel(Rocky). I can't stand Cami either, so I probobly wont like lexi or kyndra. I miss Kristin!! These people don't stand a chance of replacing LB1 or 2.

im ecited its like watching lb1 we didnt know who they were and everyone watch lb1 i think people liked lb2 becuase we then knew everyone but im excited for lb3 lol

I thought Breanna was narrating the show too. Wasn't that the whole point of how they introduced it on the season 2 finale? Or did Breanna endup being to boring to be it

I too thought Tessa was half asian as well. I'm glad I'm not the only one. She seems really nice and I'm glad she's narrating. She seems like a cool girl and she's really pretty.
Tessa is so pretty. All the others are not even cute, except maybe rocky. The guys are not hot. Stephen was hot. Kristin will definitely be the most gorgeous girl from LB!
Tessa seems like she is a goody two shoe's so we'll see and i think that lauren was the most gorgeous girl from lb she is the most real girl and she is soo pretty tessa kinda reminds me of lauren not look wise but other stuff, does tessa and breanna hangout cause i like breanna to she is a cute girl

LC and Kristin were very gorgeous girls. Jessica and Taylor were pretty too. I'm watching the reruns now and I'm sad because I'll never see them in this situation again and that friendships are no longer the same. :( I absolutely love seasons 1 & 2.
Cami is the ugliest, sluttiest thing to come out of the water! Tessa is pretty.
I Love LB season 1 and 2. I don't think season 3 will be as good, but def. worth watching because some of the old cast will be on it. It just doesn't seem right without Kristin, stephen and Lauren. I love all of them.
I Just got season 2 dvd. I think I like 2 better than season 1. I've watched a couple episodes and I'm like I wish they were still on it. Best show ever, LB1 and 2!
Is it just me or did all the photos on the website on the cast make it look like Kyndra would be the narrator? She seemed pushed in the front in some group photos.

Awesome. That way you can't expect much of her, especially if you have a bias towards Kyndra, Cami, or Breanna. Then again, I thought it would be cool if a guy for once narrated it.

They had a LB marathon of seasons 1 & 2 on this weekend. Kristin looks SSSOOOO much better with her natural hair back then and even though Casey had extensions,they didn't look like "shit" as Kristin stated. They were shiny and styled...not strawlike like Kristins' are now. I thought it was funny how Dieters' eyebrows were plucked in Season 1 and in Season 2, he must've realized how ridiculous they looked in Season 1 and let them grow out.

I like Kyndra and Cami the best. I noticed they only have 3 guys as the main characters? That's not very many and they all look way older than high school aged.

Those guys just look alot older than Stephan, Talan and Dieter. They looked like high school kids..especially Stephen with his baby face, but these 3 guys look way older to me. Maybe too much partying has aged them beyond their years! lol

No offense to LC or Breanna (cause' I like LC), but I think that Breanna is a little too over-dramatic about some things. Because if anybody watched that 15 minute segment of the Sneek Peek with Vanessa Minillo, toward the end it showed her crying over her and Rocky's friendship. And because she thought she was choosing Tessa over her. I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't cry about that. Also, the advice LC gave her about "High school fights are so stupid. Girls fight about it and in about a week they're over it." Well...I'm sure that she'll forgive Rocky.......
I dont think this season is gunna be nearly as good as the 2 before it first off none of the guys are hott and the girls this year are so much more catty. How did cami end up friends with kyndra at least kyndra is pretty, cami is a big fat man. ugh anyways we'll see what happens.
Kyndra is ugly, stupid, fat, mean and worthless. She is a long-nosed, way too tan fat-ass with cellulite on the backs of her disproportionate upper arms at way too young an age. I am embarrassed for her! She's clearly a nasty hooch with nothing intelligent (or even halfway decent) to say on the show, and it's no wonder the only person that cares to spend more than 2 seconds with her is Cami. Barf on both of them!
Well I never thought I'd be able to dislike someone as much as I dislike Kristin. But I have. The one thing I can say about Kristin is at least she was attractive. Kyndra is only cute sometimes. Other times she looks a hideous mess and Cami just looks like trash period. I'm mad I actually felt bad for her being salty last year at Jason's prom. I'm happy that happened now. I like Tessa and Rocky. I especially like Chase he seems like a real sweetheart.
