Pratt and Montag both denied to Armstrong that they were getting engaged on the show or otherwise. Heidi showed up to her EW brunch interview with no ring on, and Spencer said "We can't wait to see how they edit that.... We would get engaged, we just wouldn't do it on Lauren's show."
The couple also swore to the magazine that Montag wore a "promise ring" and that the promos for the show claiming the duo's engagement were off. The day after the issue went to press, Montag and Pratt started a round of radio interviews where they claimed that they were engaged, and that they were even thinking of a spin-off show to get married live on television. And after last night's series premiere in which Spencer proposed to Heidi on camera, there can be almost no doubt that the two are (at least for publicity's sake) betrothed.
So why lie to EW? "I have no idea," Armstrong told Radar. "All you can go on is what the people say, and I have a tape and recordings." And this isn't the first time Pratt's comments on tape have gotten him in trouble. Turns out his new tactic is courting the press only to turn on them. Good way to make friends, Spence.

SHOCKING!!! Spencer and Heidi lie! No way. How could this be true. Haha. These two are about as dumb as they get. Oh well for them. Now only if they would go away.
Why am I not surprised? Who cares if they're engaged or not?! The two idiots can drop off the face of the earth for all I care.
I don't want to be mean but how can Heidi look Spencer in the face and Kiss him. The guy is ugly.

I agree. You gotta have pretty low self-esteem for your boyfriend to convince you that he actually doesn't want to marry you, he just wants to pretend he's marrying you for publicity. Just what every little girl dreams of.
It's reality tv people, it's a messed up world, anything any of these people say, including lauren, could be lies.
Thats all they do is tell lies!
But if you actually notice, they never say anything about marriage in "the proposal", it's just about how much they love each other.
SO MTV really could have edited it to make it look as proposal-y as possible.

If the media has not realized that Heidi and Spencer are a bunch of liars who would do anything to stay in the public eye... then these reporters are stupid.
Wow, so Spencer and Heidi are lying liars who lie. Big surprise! Now if they would just disappear. never to be heard from again. that would be awesome.
Hate to say this guys. Heidi's track was released on Ryan Seacrest and it actually sounds pretty good. I really wanted to hate it but I can't lie and say I did. They can cut out Spencer's rapping though. I think I like it because they used a cover to one of my favorite songs ever from the 80's as background music. And it sounds like they did a lot of studio work on it to make it sound good. Judge for yourself, u can listen to it on perezhilton.com
