Thursday, July 17, 2008 || Lauren "Thrilled" About Success of Clothing Line
Hills star Lauren Conrad isn't bothered that West Hollywood boutique Kitson dropped the Lauren Conrad Collection.
"Lauren Conrad could not be more thrilled with the success that her collection is receiving at retail," her rep said in an exclusive statement to Usmagazine.com.
"The collection is currently sold at Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, Planet Blue, Fred Segal and over 500 specialty boutiques nationwide," the rep continued.
"The collection continues to grow each season and is slated to expand into more retail locations this next season," Conrad's rep told Us.
Conrad, 22 – who tops the second annual PopSugar 100 – has admitted, "I spend the most amount of time on the line, and it's the thing that makes me the least amount of money."
ugh, i used to work for nordstrom and during the time they never sold her clothes and now they do? i should've waited another month to quit ! i heard from our regional manager, it was hard trying to get her clothing line to nordstrom's.
it will be interesting to see how lc weathers this storm. she has been having a lot of negative press recently from the fights with Audrina, the guest house problems, cellullite controversy, spat with Diamond, and now her clothing line being dropped from Kitson. if she can get through these next days with her head up and a smile on her face, she might emerge from this untarnished. But as of now, it seems that LC Inc has taken a hit. I imagine a lot of her haters are snickering behind her back and secretly (or openly) enjoying her recent bad luck.
All the spin is kind of getting on my nerves. Putting a positive note on things doesn’t bother me, but some of these statements are a bit much and just sound phony. “Could not be more thrilled...”? Really? Just say that it looks like Kitson wasn’t a good fit, but you’re doing well in other stores. Her rep’s statements just sound too defensive and it reminds me of the sorts of things Speidi would say where we would all roll our eyes.
This dog show business kind of bothers me, too, with her whole “my parents raised me right” blah blah blah. I can certainly buy that there was some miscommunication and I’m sure she wasn’t aware of everything, but regardless she was acting like a diva. Why couldn’t she just walk in the show? It was for charity, other celebs were doing it, and she hasn’t exactly shown herself to be shy of the spotlight. I personally hate the spotlight (didn’t even like it on my wedding day) and I would have sucked it up and done it.
But I agree with the poster above - she has been pretty viciously attacked lately and I do hope she can weather the storm. But at the same time I don’t think she’s all innocent either - especially when it comes to the dog show. And this isn’t the first time we heard something like this - there was another charity incident where she reportedly refused to ride in a limo because it was white. I don’t necessarily condone what that Diamond lady did, but maybe it’s a lesson for Lauren that some things are not worth it.
This press release is a joke. No one is happy when their clothing line is dropped. That's like saying "i got fired - hooray for me." Ridiculous... I'm not a fan of Heid's by any means but i do think she has the right thing idea by doing in store appearances. Lets be honest, people are buying these clothes because of the girls behind the clothes and that has to involve putting in some face time. It's part of why Victoris Beckam's line failed at Kitson, she bailed on every opportunity to promote it. Lauren's line is still relatively new (and not cheap) she seriously needs to get out there and promote the hell out of it so that when The Hills ends her brand is still going strong. that's my $.02 anyway...for whatever it's worth.
It's great that so many stores have picked up her line. She should be thrilled. It's too bad Kitson dropped her. Somehow I think she'll survive though.

hahaha, I love how the title of this post has "thrilled" in quotation marks. They also realize how retarded the rep's commentary is.
