Thursday, February 05, 2009 || ‘Into The Blue 2’ Heads Straight To DVD
Audrina Patridge’s “Into The Blue 2: The Reef” is skipping a theater run and heading straight to DVD.
The movie, which pairs “The Hills” star with 28-year-old actor Chris Carmack, and 24-year-old former “Smallville” star Laura Vandervoort, will be released by MGM Home Entertainment on April 21.
“Into The Blue 2,” is the follow up to 2005’s “Into The Blue,” which starred Paul Walker, Jessica Alba and Scott Caan, as a group of treasure divers who make a significant find, only to have to battle it out with a drug lord over the booty.
While “Into the Blue 2” won’t take Audrina into theaters, she has another chance to break out of small screen life later this year when “Sorority Row,” co-starring Rumer Willis is released in October.
To be fair to Audrina and the movie this film was always going to be a direct to video release. There was never any intention of releasing it in movie theatres as the the original movie bombed in the theatres but made a killing in DVD sales and rentals.
Way back when the movie was being filmed they announced it was going straight to video. They shot the film on a small budget and filmed it over a 6 week period in Oahu for that very reason. The press is trying to spin the direct to video thing in a bad way to create a news story but there are plently of films made strictly for dvd release. Honestly the press is probably embarrassed they did so many news stories touting Audrina as the star of the film. She's not by the way. Audrina has a small role and was done filming way before the production ended.
