Friday, November 11, 2005 || Addicted to Laguna Beach???
This guy wrote a little article about being addicted to Laguna Beach, it's a cute little article so I decided to post it on here. Enjoy!!! It's "Laguna Beach: The Real O.C.," the completely vacuous, inane and simply bizarre "reality" show on MTV about a bunch of rich kids who perfectly embody what's wrong with America.
That's really not an understatement.
The kids float through life in their beachside mansions, creating and diving, headfirst, into drama that even the best soap opera writer would be hard-pressed to conjure: Jessica dates Jason, who really has eyes for Alex, but quickly loses interest in her to date Lauren. Meanwhile, Kristen is leading on Talan, "hooking up" with Jessica's crush, repelling college-boy Stephen's advances and getting a brand new BMW X5 from daddy when her late '90s Isuzu Trooper craps out.
It's the stuff good parents say they won't let their kids watch, but honest parents admit to sneaking on the kitchen TV while nervously checking over their shoulders.
I'm pretty depressed about my addiction - but still hopelessly hooked.
i am 28 also addicted...a decade out of high school and i think that's part of it...trying to 'remember it all'...plus, i am a major observer of human behavior and love to analyze the psychological aspects of relationships...no matter if it is my family or these priveleged kids!!!
you people need to get a life. I am addicted but only because i am the same age! It's cute if you get into it with your kids, seriously my dad watched it with me once too.
I don't think age has anything to do with the appeal! I'm 42 but my boss' kids are addicted and they are like 7 & 9!!! That proves that, despite what critics say, the show has universal appeal and is, indeed addictive! Wish it could be on year-round with no breaks & have special 1-hour episodes when they go places like Cabo or have formals!
Yeah i suppose but i thought mainly the generation of the ones in the show watched it. I'd probably watch it with my kids. However i don't think i will be watching season 3 because honestly i think the girls let too much hang out if you know what i am talking about and that is sick. No offense to who does plan on watching season 3, i just do not think it will be the same. I plan on watching the hills.
