Friday, October 26, 2007 || The Real World of "The Hills"

Reality shows capture real people in their real environs, doing their everyday real things -- with the help of several cameras, boom mics, light filters, multiple takes and story outlines! Lights. Camera. Acting?!

Photographers snapped LC and Whitney -- and a few of their closest "Hills" production staff friends -- enjoying lunch on Thursday. Pretend we're not here!

It's just like a documentary -- and wrestling, Jerry Springer and infomercials!

Okay, this is the upteenth post showing that The Hills is staged.
We know! lol We get it! It's nothing new, same as Laguna. I'm guessing there are more blurbs about this because The Hills has more new fans these days who might not be aware?

I just wish they'd stop harping on about it being staged, now everyone's going to think that everything they do and is say is acting

^honestly, if they were acting, they should be given acting roles in other things because it's working.

wow, for the first time i realised just how awkward it must be to have a filming crew at every conversation you have.

^yeah, now imagine being on a first date with someone under those circumstances. Really natural, huh? lol

People needs to just get over it. THe Hills is averaging 3.855 millions viewers every monday and not to mention people who watches it online and via re-runs. People watch the show because it is entertaining and these gossip sites needs to get over themselves. I love the hills and I will continue to watch because I am a fan of LC, Whitney and Lo as well as Brody. LC looks really cute in that pic.

It's been like this since season one and laguna beach, so it doesn't really surprise me.

I agree with you 2:30. The success of The Hills is a business generating money now. Perez Hilton can say anything on his site about it (even if it's not true) and people will visit his site to read about it because the show is so hot right now.
Once you've got viewers, you're making money.
More cameras following Lauren around, more paid club visits for Brody, more opportunities to model for Audrina, etc.
Anyone in their position would be taking advantage of the opportunities offered to them.
People who say otherwise are lying.

People sitting behind their computers and saying the show is fake blah blah, do you honestly think the cast gives a S#$T. They are making money and laughing all the way to the bank. LC is MTV's cash cow right now, they couldn't care less if people find out her date was fake, or the her show is scripted. The bottom line is people are watching and MTV is making money. That's why I don't blame Speidi for doing all those staged photo's, they are smart, they are making money, they know this is not going to last forever because once the show is over, the media wouldn't give a S@$T about them. This applies to all the cast, LC included.

^agree. I just find Speidi's fake phot ops tacky. But they are making money from them and that's their perogative.

Hey, if you look on the MTV/The Hills website’s official blogs, they’re now trying to put the blame on why the ‘cats out of the bag’ on that guy who took Lauren out to dinner! Ha Ha Ha. Not only is MTV so arrogant to blatantly lie about the true premise of the show (all of the ’stars’ have stated numerous times, it’s all real. Sure. Here’s what MTV has done, take a bunch of mid-20 people, give them a contract and made them sign a non-disclosure agreement (meaning they can’t discuss any details at all, or they’ll get sued by MTV), give them a character to play that includes whether their good/evil, where they work, where they live, what they wear, etc. and give them a summary of what they want in each ‘take’. The cast members then improvise. I totally agree that if it was written by professional writers, it would be much more entertaining; there would be less staring and awkward silence. I knew it was staged, but I didn’t know the extent of the deception MTV was willing to do to make this crummy show. And now to blame it on some guy/Gavin, is freaking hillarious. I can’t wait for this house of cards to fall.

^It's not ging to fall. People watch whether it's staged or not.
Get a hold of yourself.

I think that at this point they should just admit that it's fake because it's obvious! and it's obvious that speidi's relationship is fake too, so they all look stupid in the end!
if they want to do a reality show they should have like two or three cameramen with little cameras with zooms, and not this whole crew thing to make the right lighting and all that, it's ridiculous!!!
now the hills should just be called a show and not a reality show anymore!

At October 27, 2007 4:07 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

None of the reality shows are real. They edit people into characters and invent a story line loosely based on what's really happening in the cast's lives. They distort time too. I thought most people knew this. They did it on Laguna. They do it on The Hills. If people feel cheated they don't have to watch it.

MTV has been doing this since LB, so why are you guys surprised? That's how reality shows are filmed, so get over it. And lmao at people who are saying they won't watch the show anymore, who are you kidding, lol.
